PAGE 8-A THE GATESVILLE MESSENGER, THURSDAY, MARCH 18, 1982 Society Carol Childs, Glenn Brown Pledge Wedding Vows Saturday 1 HP- I Carol Childs and Glenn Thomas Brown were married Saturday March 13, in a family ceremony at Blue Ridge Baptist Church. Rev. Lindsay Cofield, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Marlin, performed the double ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

H. B. Childs and the granddaughter of Mrs. H. B.

Childs Sr. and Mrs. Charles L. Kinard, all of Marlin. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr.

and Mrs. Harold Eugene Brown of Catesville and his grandparents are Mrs. Lizzie Bayes and Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Wells, all of Kentucky.

Music was provided by Mrs. Birdie Ryan, ofganist, Carol Vasser, pianist, and Celia Campbell, soloist. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a tea length gown of white Swiss embroidered voile fash-, ioned with a high neckline, long sleeves and a natural waistline accented with a peach and white satin ribbon. Her headpiece was a circlet of white slephanotis. She carried a bouquet of roses and chrysanthemums atop a white Bible, a gift from her grandmother.

Mrs. Thomas C. Baird was her sister's attendant. The. bridegroom's brother, William H.

Brown, was best man. A reception was held in the church parlor following the wedding. Members of the houseparty were Mrs. Charles Childs of Marlin, sister-in-law of the bride, Mrs. David Gillum of Dallas and Mrs.

Ben Dunlap of Satin, both cousins of the bride. Mrs. Brown, a graduate of Baylor University, teaches reading at Belton Junior High School. Mr. Brown is a student at the University of Texas in Austin.

Mrs. Frankie Blair Maynard gave a beautiful program of organ music for members and guests of Morris Federation Saturday afternoon in the sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church.

She was assisted by Mrs. Lillian Roach. Mrs. Maynard's program was divided into several groups. The first was composed of such favorites as "Rhapsody in Blue," "Consolation," "Traumerei," and "The Lost Chord." Vickie Melton Hosts S'gmaRho Vickie Melton was hostess for the March 9 meeting of Sigma Rho chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority.

Prior to the meeting the Pledge Ritual was observed for Donna Baker, Sherry Rosson and Marilyn Maynard. President Dawn Lanham presided at the business meeting. Members were reminded of the area convention in San Antonio March 20 and the State Convention in Ft. Worth June 25-27. Plans were Finalized for a social to be held March 13 in the home of Bob and Sandra Melton.

The hostess served refreshments of kolaches, mints and punch to Coby Barkley, Jane Cooper, Kathy Crawford, Pani Denton, Dawn Lanham, Sandra Melton, Barbara Smart, Joyce Talbott, Sherrie Ragland, Susan Ussery, Beth Fidelke, Mary Anne Hammack, Kathy Dugan, Donna Baker. Marilyn Maynard and Sherry Rosson. From Broadway hits she played "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes," "Deep Purple," and "The Desert Song." Next was a medley of academy award winners "Somewhere My Love," "I Left My Heart in San Francisco," "When You Wish Upon a Star," "Moon River," and "Lara's Theme from Dr. JZhivago." She then presented "Hello Dolly" and "Mame" and a little boogie-beat "Up A Lazy River." She then saluted the 50th state, Hawaii, with "Tiny Bubbles," "Pearly Shells" and "Blue Hawaii." A medley of country-western was next with "One Has My Name, "Release Me," "Your Cheating Heart," and "I Can't Stop Loving You." As a patriotic closing Mrs.

Lillian Roach gave the reading "What is American To Me" with background music "America The Beautiful" played by the guest artist. Hostesses were Mrs. Eva Louise Smith, Molly Montgomery, Mrs. Minola Teafatiller, Mrs. Maud Burt and Mrs.

Julia Miller. Live Oak Church Has Fellowship Training Group Members of the Adult II Church Training Gass of the Live Oak Baptist Church met for fellowship at the J. C. Byrom home March 11. Following a brief devotional, the group was led in games and fellowship by Joyce Mensch.

Those attending were Joyce and Vennis Mensch, Betty and Lynn Spencer, Letha Saunders, Eva Durham, Billy Manning, and Betty and J. C. Byrom. Helen Ann Herring and Joe Watson were united in marriage February 19 in the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs.

Jack Herring of Gatesville. Rev. Wayne Best officiated at the double ring ceremony. The bridegroom is the son of Wallace D. Watson Sr.

of Gatesville. Jackie Coalston was her sister's maid of honor and Lourie Watson, sister-in-law of the bridegroom, was her bridesmaid. Wally Watson served his brother as best man and Gene Watson, also brother of the bridegroom, was groomsman. Lisa Herring, sister of the bride, registered the guests. A reception was held following the ceremony.

Debbie Lee and Tammy Russell, cousin of the bride, presided at the bride's table. Suzanne Pruitt, cousin of the bride and Lisa Herring served at the bridegroom's table. The bride, a 1975 graduate of Gatesville High School, is a 1977 graduate of 4-C Business College in BIG-TIME GARAGE SALE President Chester A. Arthur, while in the White House, actually held a garage sale on the White House lawn. He sold 25 wagonloads of furniture for a total of $8,000.
