Takes More Than Day for Rubbish Collection Here Wednesdays have been set by the city as the day for its new rubbish collection service, with each side of town covered on alternating Wednesdays, but it's turned out that it's more than a one-day job. The north side of Gatesville, along with Westview Addition, was covered by the rubbishcollecting crew for the second time Wednesday--and the loads were such the crew couldn't complete its rounds. It returned to the job Thursday afternoon, and City Manager Eiland Lovejoy said it may take some more work this afternoon to finish the job. That was also the case the first two Wednesdays the rubbish collection service operated.

It had to be carried over into following days "The amount of rubbish and junk to be collected is running far beyond our highest expectations," Lovejoy explained. It is thought, however, that after the first few weeks the amount to be collected will drop off and the job can be completed on a one-day-a-week basis. The south side of the town is to be covered Wednesday, Aug. 14. Lovejoy informed householders that if their rubbish is not picked up Wednesday, it will be the following day.
