B. Sheppard and spent Sunday night and Monday with their sister W. Mrs. Lucius Williams, at Turnersville. Mrs.

Hendrix, Mrs. Moline, Mrs. ert Boggs of Denver, and Mrs. Katie Forino of New York, N. Y.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Brooks' funeral were Delvin Marwitz, O. J. Lee, Jack Elam, Ronnie Wall, M. A.

Messenger AND STAR-FORUM Sparkin' Lamps Shown Collectors Among Antiques Mr. and Mrs. Roy Denson of Waco displayed 69 of their antique lamps when members of the Coryell Collectors Club met recently in the county courthouse. Also on exhibit was the couple's old Edison disc-record phonograph, on which Denson played the natirnal anthem while his audience stood at attention. The Densons own a collection of 350 antique lamps.

In talking about the history of lighting, Denson summarized the tales behind some of his lamps. The collection includes two courting or "sparkin' lamps, a true cobalt lamp, an AladdinLincoln drape, a two-handled bride's lamp, a one-handled slave's lamp, a miner's lamp, various colors of depression glass lamps, whale oil lamps, and a variety of miniature lamps. Refreshments of Valentine cupcakes and coffe were served at the close of the program. Attending were Messrs. and Mesdames Austin Bertrand, Clarence King, Allen Denny, Lloyd Mitchell, Lynn Spencer, Jim Miller and Roy Denson; and June Dickerman, Clois Stone, Edith Creacy, Ada Fisk, Sandy Rhoads, Joe Orbeck, Fabian Klecka, Lillian McFarlin, Doug Smith, Cam McGilvray, A.

J. Gordon, and Margaret Winters and Phillip. Last Rites Held For Mrs. Ashmore Funeral services for Mrs. Jesse J.

Ashmore, 58, of Tehaucana, a former Jonesboro resident, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Corley-Porter Chapel, Mexia. Burial was in the Tehaucana Cemetery. Mrs. Ashmore died Tuesday night, Feb.

12. A graduate of Santa Rosa School of Nursing, San Antonio, she had at Tehaucana for ten years and was a nurse at Mexia General Hospital. The former Miss Bonnie Ruth Young, she was born at Jonesboro Dec. 14, 1916. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Tehuacana.

Surviving are her husband of Tehuacana; a son, Jesse Y. Ashmore Fairfield; two daughters, Mrs. Melanie Baker of Waco and Miss Melinda Ashmore of Tehuacana; her mother, Mrs. Taylor I. Young Sr.

of Jonesboro; two brothers, Taylor Young and Hayden Young, both of Jonesboro; and four sisters, Miss Waldine Young of Jonesboro, Mrs. Eloise Hughes of Hobbs, N. Mrs. Helen Miller of San Antonio and Mrs. Jimmy Melen of Chicago, TH.

Eckert Funeral At Goldthwaite Funeral services for Billie Loyd Eckert, 68, of Goldthwaite were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Wilkins Funeral Home in Goldthwaite. Rev. Dan Connally officiated and burial was in Goldthwaite Memorial Cemetery. Mr.

Eckert died Feb. 13 at his home. Mr. Eckert was born Jan. 11, 1906 in Concho County.

He married Opal Kuykendall in August, 1930, and she died in 1938. He married Lois Scaggs on Oct. 10, 1945. He lived most of his life in Mills County, and was a retired night watchman and a veteran of World War II. Mr.

Eckert was preceded in death by his son, Billie John Eckert of Gatesville, on Nov. 3, 1969. Surviving are his wife; two sisters, Mrs. Lula Morrisey of Goldthwalte and Mrs. Mattie Tinkler of Robert Lee; four brothers, Homer Eckert of Goldthwaite, Fate Eckert of Amarillo, Allen Eckert of Sweetwater and Hal Eckert.

The former Miss Juanita Spradley, Mrs. Brooks lived in Evant until moving to Burnet eight years ago. She is survived by one son, Thomas Keith Brooks of San Marcos; a daughter, Mrs.

Karon Nita Wheeless of Austin; her father, Edwin Spradley of Evant; three brothers, J. N. Spradley of Austin, Eddie Spradley of Waco and Oscar Spradley of Malt, and three sisters, Mrs. Pauline Boykin of Belen, N. Mrs.
