The Gatesville Messenger, Wednesday, October 1, 2008, Page 5 OBITUARIES Quinton Barnett Mr. Quinton Barnett, age 74 of Gatesville, entered the presence of Jesus Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services were held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 28, 2008 at the Coryell Community Church with Pastor Walter Davidson officiating. Burial followed at the Restland Cemetery.

Quinton was born on September 15, 1934 in Coryell County, son of Chlora Blacklock Barnett and the late Johnny Barnett. He grew up in the Slater community, attending school there and in Gatesville where he graduated from Gatesville High School in 1953. He married Elaine Bruton on July 29, 1955. He was currently a member and elder at Coryell Community Church. After their marriage he worked for Phillips Petroleum and a pastor builder of churches for E.

O. Hartwell in Texas, New Mexico and Wisconsin. In 1962, he started his business Quinton's Auto Parts which he owned and operated with his sons, later known as Quinton and Sons, Inc. until his death. He served in the Texas Army National Guard and served active duty in the early 1960's.

He was a former member and deacon of Live Oak Baptist Church. He served on the Gatesville City Council and was a member of the Gatesville Fire Department for many years. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Barnett of Gatesville; mother, Chlora Barnett; daughter, Eliese Barnett of Lampasas; sons, Mark Barnett and wife Phyllis of Gatesville and Lynn Barnett and wife Tammy of Gatesville; brother, Roger Barnett of the Ater Community; grandchildren, Cheyenne Kizer, Chelsea Shafer, Bryce Barnett, Charlie Beth Moseley; and great-granddaughter, London Kizer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Coryell Community Church Youth Program, 115 N. Levita Road, Gatesville, Texas 76528.

Crystal Upton Kraner Crystal Upton Kraner, of Lampasas, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008 in a Lampasas nursing home. She was 93. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the First Street Church of Christ in Lampasas with Joe Baisden officiating.

Burial followed at Bellwood Cemetery in Temple. Mrs. Kraner was born Nov. 20, 1914, near Gatesville to Ira and Odelia Haynes Upton in Coryell County. She married Frank Kraner of Belton in 1961.

She was previously a member of the Belton Church of Christ, Delta Kappa Gamma in Lampasas, the Garden Club and retired teachers association. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ira; sisters, Ethal McCullough and Margie Coleman; and brothers, Orvellee and Frank Upton. Survivors include step-daughter, Peggy Minor of Arlington; brother, Conrad Upton of Copperas Cove; sisters, Ira Dell Storm and Janese Lancaster, both of Lampasas, Loraine Murrah of Lorena and Bonnie Davis of Columbia, TN; two step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. Dems to hold grand opening The Coryell County Democratic Party will hold. a grand opening today (Wednesday) for their campaign headquarters in Gatesville.

A tibbon cutting is planned about 5 p.m. and the grand opening will continue until 7 p.m. The Democratic Party headquarters is located at 10th and Saunders streets. All interested persons are invited to meet candidates, register to vote and enjoy refreshments. CHIEF Dispatch ch 4 CITY OF GATESVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT The following is a breakdown of activity reported by the Gatesville Police Department through its dispatcher during the period of Sept.

24-26. While there were many calls to the dispatcher, the following represent only a partial list of more significant activity. Persons are reminded that only emergency calls should be made to 9-1-1, while all non-emergency calls to the police department should be made to 865-2226. Sept. 24 7:58 a.m., officers issued a citation after investigating an accident in the 2100 block of East Main Street.

9:20 a.m., the Gatesville fire department responded to a fire call in the 1700 block of West Main Street. 1:37 p.m., a man in the 2700 block of South Business Hwy. 36 reported a theft. 2:21 p.m., Gatesville fire and ambulance units responded to an accident on CR 197 at Hwy. 36.

4:35 p.m., a woman in the 1000 block of Golf Course Road reported a burglary. Sept. 25 1:08 a.m., a man in the 1500 block of Mills Street reported a case of harassment. 6:19 a.m., a warning was issued after an officer responded to a call about a threat in the 100 block of South 26th Street. 8:08 a.m., several officers responded to a disturbance call in the 2200 block of East Main Street.

The partment units responded to a fire on CR 109. 8:35 p.m., a woman in the 1500 block of West Main Street reported an assault. 10:20 p.m., Gatesville fire department units responded to a fire call on East Hwy. 84. 11:58 p.m., a man came to the police station to report an assault.

Sept. 26 8:27 a.m., a wanted person was arrested in the 200 block of South Lovers Lane. 11:19 a.m., Gatesville fire and ambulance units responded to an accident with injury in the 2100 block of Leon Street. 12:34 p.m., a woman in the 400 block of North Hwy. 36 reported an assault.

1:05 p.m., a man in the 100 block of East Elm Street reported a theft. CORYELL COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT The following is a breakdown of activity reported by the Coryell County Sheriff's Department during the period of Sept. 24-26. These calls to dispatch reflect only the more significant ones that came in during the period. Persons are reminded that only emergency calls should be made to 9-1-1, while all non-emergency calls to the sheriff's office should be made to 865-7201.

Sept. 24 6:50 a.m., a citizen in the 100 block of East Walker Avenue reported a runaway. 7:56 a.m., a woman reported a reckless driver on West Hwy. 84. 10:46 a.m., a woman on Sims Circle reported some shots being fired.

11:56 a.m., a woman in the Customer 4 FREE 400 block of CR 190 reported a case of credit card abuse. 1:14 p.m., a man in Pidcoke. reported a suspicious vehicle in the area. 2:21 p.m., a woman reported a major traffic accident on Hwy. 36, two miles north of CR 197.

2:55 p.m., a man in the 3100 block of South Hwy. 36 reported an assault. 6:23 p.m.,m a woman on South FM 116 reported some suspicious activity. 6:30 p.m., a deputy reported an assault in the 3100 block of South Hwy. 36.

7:25 p.m,., a citizen in the 3000 block of FM 1113 reported the burglary of a habitation. 9:42 p.m., a man reported a reckless driver on North Hwy. 36. 11:24 p.m., deputies responded to a suicidal subject call on CR 265. Sept.

25 6:36 a.m., a woman on East Hwy. 84 at South Mountain reported some suspicious activity. 8:00 a.m., several deputies responded to a call to assist another agency on Business Hwy. 36. 8:29 a.m., a man reported a case of illegal dumping on CR 158.

8:58 a.m., a woman in the 2800 block of Poplar reported a case of vandalism. 9:37 a.m., a woman in the 300 block of FM 107 reported a case of criminal mischief. 10:29 a.m., a woman re- ported a reckless driver on FM 217. 3:12 p.m., a man in the 200 block of FM 107 reported some missing livestock. 7:51 p.m., a man in the 11600 block of FM 107 reported a case of harassment.

8:26 p.m., a man reported a fire on CR 109. 8:27 p.m., a man in the 9000 block of FM 2412 called in an animal complaint. 10:21 p.m., a call was forwarded about an explosion on Hwy. 84 between Oglesby and McGregor. Sept.

26 11:23 a.m., a man in Evant called in an animal complaint. 12:22 p.m., a woman in the 1200 block of Straws Mill Road reported a disturbance. 12:47 p.m., a woman in the 900 block of Wedgewood reported the burglary of a vehicle. 4:31 p.m., a man in the 100 block of CR 157 reported a case of illegal dumping. 6:45 p.m., a man on Rainer Road reported a theft.

p.m., a woman reported a reckless driver in the 900 block of Kubitz Road. 7:12 p.m., a woman in the 1000 block of FM 580 reported some shots being fired. 9:28 p.m., a citizen reported a fire in the 1100 block of King Country Road. Byrom-Yows descendants to hold reunion Saturday Descendants of John Milton Byrom and Molly Yows will gather Saturday for the annual Byrom-Yows family reunion. The reunion will be held at Hay Valley Baptist Church and will include a covered dish lunch at noon.

A short meeting, singing, story-telling, family pictures and games are all on the agenda. All relatives are encouraged to attend.
