Only 230 tickets, priced at $100 each, are available and may be purchased at National Bank in Gatesville. A drawing will be held at the Oct 19 event for a variety of door prizes as well as the $5,000 cash first prize and a color television set. Dick Gellasch, complex drive coordinator, and Jackie Hill encourage businesses and individuals to purchase tickets. Four businesses-Byrom, Haile and Thomas, HEB, Bolton-McClaren, and Guaranty Bank-have already purchased tables for 10, Gellasch reported.

JamesCari Roberts James Carl Roberts of Gatesville died Sept 13 in a Temple hospital. He was 74. Graveside service, with military honors, were held Tuesday at the, Ater Cemetery with the Rev. Walter Rose officiating. He was born June 21, 1922, in Dallas to the late William Jack and Marie Roberts.

He entered the military in 1942 and served until 1933, earning the Korean Service Medal with five Bronze Stars, United Nation Service Medal, the American Theater Campaign Medal with one Bronze Star, four Overseas Service Bars, Victory Medal, Soldiers Medals and the Combat Infantry Badge. Following his discharge from the Army, he worked for the Green Haven, New York, -and the Ft Leavenworth, Kansas, prison systems. Later, he followed construction work and was employed in the custodial department of Arlington Memorial Hospital in Arlington. On Nov. 11, 1972, he married Lena Mae Baker in Arlington.

He and his wife resided in Arlington until moving to Gatesville around 1980. She preceded him in death on Oct 19, 1989. He was also preceded in death by a step-son. Jack Baker. Survivors include four step-daughters, Mildred Hitt and Shirley Penny, both of Gatesville, Dorothy Spear of Concordia, KS, and Minnie Greene-Kinsey of Fort Worth; one step-son, Clarence Baker of Gatesville; one brother, Pete Roberts of Oklahoma; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

The family requests memorials be made to the donor's favorite charity. Bruce Denham Sr. Bruce Denham Sr. of Pampa died Sept 15 in Temple. He was 86.

Graveside services were held Wednesday at the Wheeler Cemetery with Minister Larry Brown officiating. He was born Jan. 15, 1910, in Sunset His family moved to Wheeler in 1920. In 1936, he married Myrtle Lucille Campbell in Wheeler. The moved to Shamrock in 1942 and then to Pampa in 1963.

She preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 1994. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Fred Denham, Dexter Denham and Son Denham. Survivors include three sons, Bruce Denham Jr. of Oglesby, Gene Denham of League City and Kenneth Denham of Skellytown; two daughters, Judy Brewer and Tammy Denham, both of Roanoke Rapids, NC; one sister, Garrnet Gunter of Wheeler; eight grandchildren; and 10 greatgrandchildren.

Mrs. LaconiaJohnsonMlridge Laconia Johnson Aldridge of Gatesville died Sept 17 in Gatesville. She was 83. Funeral services were held Friday at the Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Ricky Smith officiating.

Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery. She was bora March 29, 1913, in Coryell County to the late Frazier and Eunice Johnson. She married Lee Aldridge Sr. and they resided in Houston all of their married life. She returned to Gatesvjlle in 1983 after the death of her husband.

Survivors include her cousins, Thelma Massey of Gatesville and Nell Sallard of Waco. The family suggests memorials to the Family Hospice of Temple. f. "1 '4 i Funeral services were held Monday in the chapel of James Crowds? Funeral Home in La Marque with the Rev. RX.

Calhoun officiating. Burial was in Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster. He was born June 18, 1909, in Hobart, Okla. A former resident of Gatesville, he had resided in Texas City for 36 years. He retired as a bou ennaker for Marathon Oil Co.

Survivors include one daughter, Joan Frank, of Texas City; one son, Ray V. Vbss of Texas City; two sisters, Ruth Anderson of Texas City and Pauline Vernon of Woodville; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Larry Frank, David frank, Mark Kearby, Eric Frank, Gary Baughman and Louie Hildebrand. Julian Rogers Julian Rogers of Evant died Sept. 15 in a Moody nursing home. He was 54. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Evant Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev.

Albert Ruiz officiating. Burial was in Murphref Cemetery. He was born Jan. 17, 1942, to Pauline Galindo and the late Tony Rogers Jr. He resided most of his life in the Evant area and worked in an auto body shop.

He was a Catholic. Survivors include his wife, Ricarda Ponce Rogers of Evanr, his mother Pauline Galindo of McGregor, two sons, Carlos Rogers of Waco and Julian Rogers Jr. of Killeen; one step-son, Jamie Olvera of Evant; one stepdaughter, Kelly Olvera of Evant; three sisters, Amelia Balderas of McGregor, Victoria Balderas of Fort Worth, and Antonia Lopez of Fort Worth; three brothers, Victor Rogers of Waco, Tony Rogers Jr. of McGregor and Frank Rogers of Joshua; and four grandchildren. Pallbearers were George Delagado, Frank Galindo, Carlos Castaneda, Angel Acosta, Tony Rogers III and Travis Cardenas.

ThelmaMozell Sims Foller Thelma Mozell Sims Foller, formerly of Coryell County, died Sept 16 at a Gorman nursing home. She was 78. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Abilene with the Rev. R.O. Sims and the Rev.

Terry Jones officiating. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery. She was born in Coryell County where she graduated from high school before attending nursing school in Abilene. She moved from Gatesville to Abilene in 1948 and to Eastland County in 1985. She worked in Abilene for Shady Oaks Nursing Home for six years and Hendrick Medical Center for 18 years.

In 1935, she married Walter R. Foller Sr. in Gatesville, He preceded her in death. She was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church in Eastland County. Survivors include two sons, Walter R.

"Bobby" Foller Jr. of Bacliff and Jimmy Foller of Abilene; a daughter, Thelma Lucille Jones of Cisco; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Rhoda Betty Brown Rhoda Betty Brown of Moffat died Sept. 17 at a Temple hospital. She was 84.

Funeral services were held Thursday at Sheffield Funeral Home with Dr. Tom Henderson officiating. Burial was in Moffat Cemetery. She was born in Flat to the late Robert and Margaret Ray Wolff. She lived in Coryell and Bell counties all of her life.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Moffat Degree of Honor Lodge, Golden Heights Choir and Moffat Community Center. She and her husband, Charley Brown, gave the land for the Moffat fire station. Survivors include two sons, Darrell A. Brown of Moffat and Walter DT Brown of Temple; a daughter, Marilyn Sue Humphrey of Aubrey; two sisters, Martha Gilbreath of Gatesville and Violetta Whitson of Georgetown; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. 73,836 square feet of space that will accommodate at least 830 students, according to the superintendent.

Currently, enrollment at the Intermediate School is just under 600 students. The school building includes 45 regular classrooms, band hall, choir room, gymnasium, library and cafetorium. and all students sang the theme song, "We Are the Children." In his letter of resignation read Monday at the GISD board of trustees meeting, Poe publicly expressed his gratitude to superintendents L.C. McKamie, Charles Zeigler, Tracy Barnes and James Baize, as well as to all the school boards of the last 33 years for their support. Poe and his wife, Marsa, a secretary at Gatesville Junior High, have two children, Shelley and Darren. "We still have empty beds, but not necessarily the type of beds we need," Shaw said, repeating the need for more space for more violent prisoners. He attributed the increasing prison population to the Texas Legislature responding to the public's desire to "get criminals off the streets" and to a breakdown in the family values.
